"Cate Blanchett will play Bob Dylan in his "androgenous phase" in a new biopic of the great poet-songwriter's life, it was announced, as Dylan turned 65."
An introduction, you say?
( If you want me to, then yes!Collapse )
Random Dylan Anecdote:
My dad and I are both big fans, and I've been reading Tender Is the Night for one of my classes. Needless to say, every time it comes up, one of us will invariably say:
You've read all of F. Scott Fitzgerald's books
You're very well-read, it's well known
But something is happening and you don't know what it is
Do you, Mr. Jones?
Random Dylan Anecdote v2.0:
As a rabid fan of "Mystery Science Theater 3000," I must recommend episode 613 - The Sinister Urge. Mike and the 'bots make quite a few very funny Dylan references, as there's an incidental character who resembles him. When the guy steps into a phonebooth: "This looks like a job for...ZIMMYMAN!"
I don;t want to sound dumb (no matter what I will)
BUT since the Cronicles are called CHRONICLES volume one...does that mean that there will be a volume 2??
I sure hope so
Here is a site with an assortment of downloadable dylan clips
this page is from 200-2004 but there are lots more pages.
One becomes a great artist not through the expression of oneself but through the expression of forces greater than oneself.

Hi all, I'm Elizabeth-Anne from Leicester in the UK. I'm not going to do the questionnaire I'm afraid, for the following reason: I am pretty much a newbie to Dylan. I know I know, it's terrible that I'm only starting to listen to him when I've been on the planet for 21 years already, right? Hee. I mean, I'd always been sort of familiar with him - this sounds slightly lame, but my dad had a tape of the first Greatest Hits which I ended up playing all the way round a school trip to Spain as a teenager because my CD player broke. And it was an odd and dreamy week or so for various reasons so there was always a little bit of my heart that Dylan occupied. But then after No Direction Home I started nicking some of my dad's records (sadly he doesn't have much Dylan though) and then over Easter I got sort of...obsessed. He's just so fascinating and inspiring. But I'm feeling a bit daunted right now because there's just SO MUCH stuff to listen to! And I have a paltry *counts* three albums (Blonde on Blonde, Highway 61 and Blood on the Tracks) at the moment, plus various random compliations and a couple of the Bootleg Series. All of which have already got played to death, I swear it's the only thing getting me through revision right now. But I feel very ignorant! Anyway, you all seem nice so I thought I'd just come and hang around here to bask in your Dylan wisdom, if that's OK? *looks friendly*
Bob: (Strapping on his electric guitar)
"Last on the bill; not least, ladies and gentlemen."
(Walking back out onto the stage for an encore)
"Here he is: back from the grave. Right straight from the grave."
Angry Fan: "Judas!"
